John Steven Riddle

John Steven Riddle, age 74, of Harriman passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 12, 1951, in Rockwood and was a lifelong resident of Roane County. John was a United States Army veteran who served his country proudly during the Vietnam War and received several medals during his years of service including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 DVC, Sharpshooter (M-16 Rifle), First Class (81-MM), Sharpshooter (.45 Cal Pistol), and one overseas Bar. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 53 in Harriman. John enjoyed watching NASCAR. Preceded in death by his father, James Riddle, and mother, Betty Arp.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Kathy Riddle of Harriman; daughter, Amber Swicegood & husband, Jeremy of Harriman; son, Steven Phillips & wife, Misty of Athens; grandchildren, Emma Swicegood, Dallas Swicegood & wife, Holland; Gavyn, Canyn, and Evyn Phillips; brothers, Danny Riddle & wife, Shirley of Riverdale, Georgia, David Riddle & wife, Beverly of Rockwood, Ford Arp & wife, Rhonda of Kingston; special nephew, Greg Mitchell of Conroe, Texas; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to The American Legion Post 53, 624 Morgan Avenue, Harriman, TN 37748. Online register book can be signed at www.FrakerFuneralHome.net.
