Gail Bunde Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hite Funeral Home on Jan. 8, 2025.
Gail A. Bunde, 87, of Leo, Indiana, stepped into Heaven on 31 December 2024. She was a lifelong learner and teacher in Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana, having reconnected with
nearly 100 former students online after her retirement. Gail graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1959 with a BS in education. She went on to earn an MS in education from St. Francis University and studied Bible and Theology at Fort Wayne Bible College.
She loved singing with the Senior Saints in the Fort Wayne area for 25 years. She also enjoyed writing, reading, knitting hundreds of hats and scarves for the needy, and pursuing her genealogy
as far back as 1664, when Rev. James Keith, a young Scottish Presbyterian minister, emigrated from Aberdeen.
Gail was a member of Grabill Missionary Church and a regular supporter of World Missionary Press. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either of these two groups.
Surviving is sister Letha C. Woods, three nieces, and several cousins.
Deepest gratitude to Dr. Neil Sharma and her other doctors and nurses at Parkview Regional Hospital, her friends who took her to appointments and prayed for her, her sister Letha, and her
wonderful hospice nurse Aimee Wilson.
Friends and neighbors may gather at the Katherine Norr Center at The Cedars, 4409 Sunrise Court in Leo for reminiscing on Gail's 88th birthday, February 14, 2025, between 1 and 4pm.

Knitted hats and more hats! Boy she could knit! She would always send box packages to my grandma's house and I remember so much tape and my grandma said she was making sure it got safe or had plenty of it . One of my favorite memories was when I was about seven and we were planting flowers in a flower bed in my great grandparents yard with her one summer. It was a great summer there and a memory I will always hold dear. Love you Tante Gail. Will always remember you with a smile and your handy knitting needles. Give Grandma a hug for me. Love Jess

Miss Bunde was my 3rd grade teacher at Payne Elementary!! I absolutely loved having her and still distinctly remember specific lessons and activities from her class 30+ years later!! She had such a sweet, loving spirit, and she made her students feel valued and important. I have been connected with her via Facebook for many years now. Her interest in her former students continued for decades after we left her classroom. I am very thankful for the impact she made on my life!
