Gail Lynn Florez, age 74, of Muskegon, MI, passed away on August 18, 2025. She was born on April 23, 1951, in Muskegon, to Thomas Odell Hines and Virginia Marcella (Gregory) Hines. She was one of eight children.
Gail attended M-Tech, where she earned her high school diploma. She later worked for Muskegon Public Schools at M-Tech in the childcare center, where she truly poured her heart into caring for others. Gail had many gifts; she always made those around her feel loved, welcomed, and could transform any house into a home. She achieved this through her love of cleaning, her green thumb with houseplants, and the delicious home-cooked meals she infused with love and joy. Gail always made holidays special, ensuring that everyone received a gift, had a full belly, and felt included.
Music was one of her greatest pleasures; she loved listening to the golden oldies like Elvis and The Temptations, but she had a real soft spot for Snoop. Gail was a bold and boisterous woman and often expressed her love in the same manner. The echoes of her voice (often giving a good holler) will not be soon forgotten. Those who knew her understood that her love was just as loud as her voice and felt as deeply. Gail was very passionate about her faith in God and lived with steadfast, old-school beliefs. Gail was and will continue to be loved fiercely by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and devotion.
She is survived by her children, Kelly Florez, Jeremy Florez, and Charles (Aleasha) Florez; her grandchildren, Seireana Florez (Jeramy Wright), Orion Florez, Troy Florez (Andie Cook), Kerra Florez, Alana Florez, Bryce Florez, Jalen Guydon, Tyler Bisard, Jazmyn (Kevin) Polk, Alexus (Jeremy) Foster, Kane Florez, and Kyle Netzler; and her great-grandchildren, Elara Wright, Raela Wright, Arlae Wright, Isiah Florez, Isaac Florez, Kennedy Polk, Kassidy Polk, Kevin Polk, Kadence Polk, Mia Florez, Ry'len Foster, Za'Kai Foster, and Bobby Foster; siblings, James (Arlene) Hines, Thomas (Hattie) Hines, Siebert (Cindy) Hines, Rick (Penny) Hines, Bernie (Cindy) Hines, and Laura Koon; as well as her special nephew, Ricky Hines.
Gail was also preceded in death by her husband Joe Florez, her parents, and brother Terry Hines.
A celebration of Gail's life will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Lane officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Restlawn Cemetery.
