Gail A. Gyger December 14, 1949 ~ November 4, 2025
Gail A. Gyger, 75, of Fairmount, passed away at 7:35 am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Wednesday, December 14, 1949, to Ronald and Katherine (Miller) Kraus. On May 17, 1975, she married Dennis Gyger who preceded her in 2023.
She worked as a program analyst for the Department of Veteran Affairs in Indianapolis. She created an incredible legacy as a remarkable woman. She gave birth to three children, balanced a full-time job, and nurtured a loving family, friendships, and community. She cultivated life's simple joys, from picking berries and making jam to tending her garden and vibrant flower beds. Together they enjoyed cheering on grandkids and great grandkids at sporting events. She loved camping, fishing and traveling. She especially loved to shop. She was the heartbeat of family reunions. A cancer survivor, she embodied resilience. Though she slowed down after losing her soulmate, her strength remains a guiding light.
Gail is survived by her children, Ericka (Troy) Jeffries, David (Tracey) Fair, Todd (Renee) Fair; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six bonus great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Debbie) Kraus; sisters, Kathy (Fred) Smith, Debbie (Jerry) Whelchel; and special friends, Jan Malston and Bonnie Breeze.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gyger, and parents, Ronald and Katherine Kraus.
A graveside service will be held at Marion National Cemetery at a later date with Pastor Lester Jeffries officiating
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Susan G. Komen 13770 Noel Rd., Suite 801889 Dallas, TX 75380 or Dementia Society of America PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18907.
