Gail Hamblett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molloy Funeral Home - West Hartford on Jan. 20, 2026.
Gail Hamblett, 91, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, with her loving husband and granddaughter by her side. She was born on January 2, 1935, to Beatrice (Manley) and Claude Charles Goodrich. Her stepfather was Clinton L. Allen.

Gail is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Kenneth Hamblett, who cherished her deeply. Her daughter, Susan Cornell, and son-in-law, Robert, of Essex, along with her treasured grandchildren, Bailey Cornell and fiancé Jack Inglis, and Tyler Cornell, continue to honor her memory. She also leaves behind her stepson, Paul Warner of Espanola, NM.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by husbands John Brooks Johnson, Jr., and John H. Warner.

If there was one word to describe Gail, it would be "giving." Whether she was tending to a less fortunate soul, providing a home for an animal in need, donating to charitable organizations or simply supporting her grandchildren, her generosity knew no bounds. She had many descriptors for life, however, and the family will cherish her little sayings. Reminders to rejoice in your wins, "Success is Happiness", avoid being encumbered, "Possessions Possess", and trust that better times are just ahead, "This Too Shall Pass."

Her grandchildren will always remember "Granny" and her infectious enthusiasm for life's adventures. Beach trips, visits to the Rose Garden, train rides, and walks with dogs Ricky and Micky. Gail and Ken always enjoyed their annual summer trips to Cooperstown for the Glimmerglass Festival Opera and Baseball Hall of Fame. Her calendar was always brimming with meetings, classes, music, arts, culture, and entertaining. Gail even found the time to be a dedicated member of Town & County and the Seed & Weed Garden Club, showcasing her green thumb. Throughout it all, Gail's love for the church, music (particularly opera), cooking, birds, pets, and children were prominent in her life. Her home reflected her decorating talent, especially during the holidays, filled with festive decor that invited warmth and joy.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate Gail's life on Friday, January 23rd, at First Church of West Hartford, 12 S. Main Street, beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome to First Church Music and Fine Arts fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
