Gail Patricia (Swallow) Hight, 80, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her beloved husband, David P. Hight, Sr.; her devoted sons: Frank Hight and partner Kirsten Erickson, of Worcester, David P. Hight, Jr. and wife Debra, of Oxford, and Jonathan Hight and partner Stephanie Lacki, of Webster; her loving grandchildren: Jason Hight and wife Chelsea, Jeffrey Hight and partner Sara, Holly Fricault and husband Paul, Nicole Benavides and husband Fredys, Andrew Hight, Kristen Riel, and Mary Alliy; and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Lavoie, of Eastham; along with many nieces and nephews. Gail was predeceased by her brother, William Swallow; and two great-grandchildren.
Gail was born in Worcester, daughter of the late James Swallow and Sophia (Cotto) Brown. She was raised in Boylston by Sophia and her husband Roger Brown. She graduated from Commerce High School, and then graduated from Carnagie Institute of Medical Technology. Gail was the first women to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where she worked on a nuclear reactor.
Gail, along with two of her friends, was one of the first Registered Phlebotomists in Worcester, and worked for many years as a G.I. Lab Technician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, camping, going to the beach, creating and donating charity baskets, swimming, and creating and sending cards to her friends and family. Above all, she lived to make others happy – her kind and loving legacy will live on through her charitable donations and hard work.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Care (https://vnacare.org/donors).
Gail's family will be celebrating her life privately. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.

Gail and Mr Hight were very busy with our church and I have very fond memories of them teaching my confirmation class. I also worked at Brookdale assisted living in Auburn and she was living there temporarily and we were able to catch up. She was a sweet lady may she RIP. Condolences to the family.
