Gail E. Kernen, of Holly, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 86 on November 8, 2024. She was born on April 26, 1938, in Flint, Michigan, to Arthur and Mildred Wicks. Gail was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Herbert, and her beloved daughter, Diane.
She is survived by four of her children: Debra, Sharon (Richard), David, and Thomas (Suzanne). Gail was a proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and she shared a special bond with her niece, Reva.
Gail was a dedicated homemaker for many years, raising her five children. She retired from the Village of Holly in 2003 after 26 years of dedicated service. Prior to her career in public service, she had a talent for cake decorating making beautiful wedding cakes and creating many detailed cakes for her children and grandchildren.
An avid collector, Gail had a passion for Charming Tails and Josef Original mice figurines, as well as other vintage and antique treasures. She was a skilled painter and enjoyed refinishing furniture, always bringing new life to old pieces. In her free time, Gail enjoyed reading, working on jigsaw puzzles, and hunting for bargains at garage sales. She also volunteered with the Friends of the Holly Township Library, sharing her time and energy with her community.
Family was the cornerstone of Gail's life, and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Wed. Nov. 13, 2024 at the Dryer Funeral Home.
