Gail Onhiser, a beloved resident of Odin, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on Thursday, April 14, 1955, in Centralia, Illinois to Harold George Tadlock and Barbara (Green) Tadlock.
Gail was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose legacy lives on through her cherished family. She is survived by her loving children: Scott "Scotty" Tadlock and wife Kelli of Odin, Canna Erbes and husband Darrell of Centralia, and JP Onhiser and wife Sara of Salem. Her enduring love extended to her grandchildren: Brittany Stanley (husband Clayton) and Draven Patterson, Stephanie Erbes, Abbigail Brooks (husband Logan), Madi Patterson, Abbigail Onhiser, and Allee Tadlock and was blessed with great-grandchildren Hunter, Luke, Axel, Lilly, and Amani. Gail is also survived by her brother, Harold Patrick Tadlock, and his wife Tammy of Centralia. She leaves behind nieces and nephews Anthony Ortega, Alisha Tadlock, Melinda Johnson, Wes Lyons, and Daniel Enriquz (wife Mandy), along with a brother-in-law, Keith Brown.
She is preceded in death by her dear parents, Harold and Barbara Tadlock; her sister, Karen Whisler; and her nieces, LeAnne Ortega and Amy Viehweg.
Gail was a dedicated dietary worker at Odin Healthcare, where she made lasting friendships and impacted many lives with her kindness and commitment. Outside of work, Gail's heart lay with her family. She loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren, and cherished her faithful dog, Angel. Gardening and planting flowers brought her joy, as did exploring thrift shops and garage sales in search of hidden treasures.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home. A service honoring Gail's life will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to her son, Jerry Onhiser, to assist with the service costs and will be accepted by the Sutherland Garnier funeral home at 235 North Sycamore St. in Centralia, IL 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Gail's family. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com and on the funeral homes Facebook page.
