Gail Anne Platt

Gail Anne Platt, 81, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born August 31, 1943, to James R. and June E. Johnson in San Diego, California.
Her family moved from San Diego to Cascadia after finding a cabin on the river for sale while on a camping trip in 1957. Gail met Gary at Sweet Home High School where they both attended. They were married December 14, 1963. The Air Force took them to Everett, Washington, and it was there that their daughter, Diana was born. From there they moved to the Tacoma area where their son Jeff was born. They remained in Washington until moving back to Sweet home in May 2020 to have a slower paced life.
Gail loved the Lord and could be found in the morning and again in the evening sitting in her rocking chair reading her Bible. Through the year she taught Sunday school and was involved with vacation Bible school. It was important to Gail that her children, grandchildren and family knew the Lord. Upon returning to Sweet Home Oregon, she attended Calvary Chapel Lebanon with her daughter and son-in-law.
In Gail's younger years, she spent time painting, sewing, canning, and baking. She enjoyed going on walks, working in the yard and sunbathing by the pool. Gail loved her family, children, and grandchildren and they loved her.
In October 2024 Gail went into Wiley Creek Memory Care after having wonderful in home care from her loving husband and very special caregivers. We want to thank them, as well as everyone who took such good care of her at Wiley Creek. The disease took her mind, it took her body, it took her dignity, but on January 2, 2025, the disease was defeated and her Lord and Savior took her home. "O death, where is thy sting?"
Gail is survived by her husband, Gary of 61 years; daughter Diana (Kelly) Almquist of Foster; son Jeff (Diane) of Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren: Lauren, David and Shelby; and three great grandchildren.
