Gar Michael "Mike" Adams, 82, of Presque Isle, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. A beloved husband, father, and friend, Mike will be remembered for his unwavering determination, his deep love for life, and his devotion to family and community.
Born on February 22, 1943, in
Waukegan, Illinois, Mike was the son of hardworking parents who taught him the value of perseverance and integrity. From a young age, he showed curiosity about how things worked-an interest that naturally led him to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). After graduating, he embarked on a long and successful career with Outboard Marine Corporation and later Tecumseh, where his passion for engines and innovation earned him several patents and the respect of his peers.
In 1966, Mike married his beloved wife, Diane, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together they raised two children, Kevin and Melissa, who were the joy of Mike's life. He was a devoted husband and father, known for his steady guidance, good humor, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Outside of his professional achievements, Mike lived life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors-hunting, fishing, and especially enjoying time on the water. He and Diane spent their winters in Florida, where Mike took pleasure in golfing, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the slower pace of life. A skilled craftsman, he helped build the family's second home in northern Wisconsin, a place that became the heart of countless cherished memories and where he and Diane lived when not in Florida-he loved it there.
Mike also contributed to his community through St. Rita's Church in Presque Isle, where he found fellowship and faith, and through his service in the Army Reserves, a reflection of his commitment to country and duty.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of devotion-to his work, to those he loved, and to the simple joys of life, which he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane; his son, Kevin (Jeannina) Adams; his daughter, Melissa Glancey: his grandchildren Elizabeth Glancey, Aiden Glancey and Izabella Adams; his brother, Arthur "Bob" (Jodi) Adams, his nephew AJ (Talia) Adams; his niece, Alisa (Steve) Lippel; his great niece, Ariel Adams; and many other nephews and nieces.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist in Kohler, WI. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of mass. The family will have a burial in northern Wisconsin in the Spring.
