Garlene Jeanette (Seal) King was born March 28, 1938 in Eden, Texas to David Garland Seal and Iliene (Medders) Seal and passed from this earth January 13, 2025 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. She was 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Quentin Hale Clear and Roy King Jr.; and two sisters, Janel Baker and Barbara Powell.
In 1958 Garlene married Quentin Hale Clear in Texaco, New Mexico. He was a young Air Force airman stationed at Clovis Air Force Base, and they began a military life raising their two daughters, Linda and Lisa. After numerous assignments throughout the United States, Garlene and Hale settled in Franklin, Arkansas and began their civilian life. Later in life Garlene was married to Roy King Jr. from 1988 to 2012.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Clear (Gene Ivey) of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Lisa French (Earl Rogers) of Thayer, Missouri; six grandchildren: David Gault (Danielle), Tiffany Morehead (Eric), Lauren Meeks (Kenny), Keeley Rogers, Regina Rodriguez (Mike), and Ladena Ivey; ten great-grandchildren: Lucas, Braden, Brooklyn, Brynly, Gus, Austin, Kaitlyn, Allie, Jacob, and Ryne; five great-great-grandchildren: Lyra, Baylin, Aubrey, Forrest, and Cannon; two brothers, David Seal and Lloyd Seal; five sisters: Judy Thompson, Bonnie Jarrett, Donna Miller, Brenda Lowe, and Darla Wolf; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and good friends.
Garlene had worked as a cook in the restaurant industry and as a social worker with senior citizens. She loved to crochet, especially afghans for family and friends, and was extremely crafty and creative. She was a member of Spring Lake Baptist Church and truly believed "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." ~Philippians 4:13
Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, January 17, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at 1540 Hwy. 62/412, Highland, AR 72542. The funeral will follow there at 12:30 p.m. with Bro. Donnie Clayton Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Bates Cemetery at Myron, Arkansas. Pallbearers include David Gault, Kenny Meeks, Eric Morehead, Braden Gault, Kevin Herron, and Joe VanSlyke. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Bryson, Gene Ivey, and Earl Rogers.
Services are entrusted to Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
