Jacksonville - Garrett Joseph Eilering, 30, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 26, 1994, in Springfield, the son of Joe and Linda Lawless Eilering.
Garrett is survived by his parents of Jacksonville, one sister, Morgan Eilering of Springfield, his maternal grandmother, Frances Lawless of Franklin, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Robert L. Lawless, Jr., and paternal grandparents Norbert G. and Shirley Eilering.
Garrett was a 2012 graduate of Routt Catholic High School and attended Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and Lincoln Land Community College. He was employed as a systems administrator for Matt Martin Consulting. Garrett was an all-around sports enthusiast, belonging to several sports groups, and enjoyed golfing in the Longnecker and Bush golf leagues. He was a member of Church of Our Saviour and the Knights of Columbus.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Williamson Funeral Home, after which the family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite sports apparel for the visitation. Private interment in St. Bartholomew Cemetery near Murrayville will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to PAWS or Routt Catholic High School Athletics.
