It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Garrett McDermott Jr., age 64, a cherished resident of Middleboro, who passed on September 1st, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Garrett's unwavering spirit and deeply rooted passion for life resonated with all who had the privilege to know him.

Born on May 12, 1961, to Garrett and Katherine (Tibbets) McDermott, a proud son who grew up surrounded by the love and values of his family. He drew strength and guidance from his upbringing, carrying forward those very principles into his own journey through life. As a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Garrett's legacy is woven through generations, his influence ever-present in the hearts of those he touched.

Garrett was a heavy-duty mechanic, a vocation that matched his hands-on approach to life and his deep appreciation for craftsmanship. He approached his work with diligence and integrity, finding satisfaction in honest labor. More than a skilled mechanic, Garrett was a mentor to his two sons, instilling in them the mechanical knowledge and work ethic that defined his own path. His passion for mustangs was legendary within his family and among his friends. The McDermott family's tradition of mechanical expertise stands as a living tribute to Garrett's dedication and love. Among life's greatest treasures, was the time spent with his grandchildren, his role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, they were the light of his life.

Garrett is survived by his devoted wife Linda, a partner with whom he shared a life of laughter, love, and steadfast companionship. Together, they built a foundation of support and understanding. Also survived by his sons, Garrett McDermott, Josh McDermott and his wife Angie, his adored grandchildren, Sean, Liam and Autumn, his sisters; Catherine McDermott, Helen Quist and Bridget Simpson, along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A Celebration of Garrett's life will be held at 38 River St, Middleboro, MA on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3:00pm. Family, friends, and all those who knew Garrett are invited to gather in remembrance, sharing stories, laughter, and tears as they commemorate a man who left an indelible mark on so many.
