Garry Franklin Greer

Garry Franklin Greer, 76, passed away on Wednesday May 14, 2025.

Garry was born in Iredell County on November 30, 1948 to the late Thomas Franklin Greer and Vallie Mae Travis Greer. He was a devoted family man and beloved member of his community, He was a man full of life, faith, and kindness—a true example of joy in everyday living.

Garry worked in the furniture industry for 49 and a half years. Beginning his career with Gilliam Furniture that later became Thomasville Furniture. He also worked at Big Daddy’s for 9 years.

Garry had love for the simple pleasures in life. He never missed a chance to enjoy a dirt track race, a good softball game, or traveling and taking road trips with friends and family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

His faith in the Lord was unwavering. A longtime and dedicated member of Open Door Baptist Church, Garry served faithfully as a door greeter and helped take up offerings every Sunday. He generously donated toward the new carpet for the church, a testament to his love for his church family and his desire to make God’s house beautiful. Those who knew Garry will remember him for his positive spirit, and his unwavering optimism. He truly enjoyed life and brought joy to those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love he gave, the laughs he shared, and the faith he lived.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Donna Renea Greer.

Left to cherish his memory is are his sons, Mathew Greer (Ashleigh) and Scottie Greer; daughters, Amy Gibson (Eric) and Dawn Williams (Darrell); sister, Carol Presley ( George), grandchildren, Sarah Fleck ( David), Tyler Williams (Tess) , Isaiah Williams ( Hailey), Nellie Greer, Ava Greer, Aubrey Gibson, and Mckenna Jones ,Jasmine Walter ( Daniel) ; great grandchildren, Bentley, Serenia, Theo, Gracie, Brooklyn.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 31, 2025 at New Bethany Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Open Door Baptist Church , PO Box 11472 Hickory NC 28603.
