He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Vera (nee Roe) Muse; siblings, Georgianna "Sug" Jones, Richard "Dick" Muse, and Wendy Stengel.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra (nee Akers) Muse; children, Carey Brown, Valerie Guetschow, and Shannon Stergion; grandchildren, Karl (Sarah) Richardson, Kelly Evans, John (Nicole) Roller, Chance (Kelsey) Richardson, Annawake Richardson, and Gary (Deana) Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; along with numerous other extended family and friends.
Garry proudly served his country in the Navy and went on to spend more than 50 years as a dedicated union carpenter/millwright, building not only structures but a life rooted in hard work and integrity. A true fisherman at heart, he loved the quiet of the water just as much as he loved animals - even the squirrels made his list. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the steady hand everyone leaned on. If something was broken, Garry could fix it - and if someone needed help, he was already there. Smart, loyal, and a true friend to many, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and love.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri 63016. Interment will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63125.
Please meet in the Jefferson Barracks staging area no later than 10:15 a.m. located at the corner of Sheridan Rd. and Boundary Rd.
