Roy Allen Collins, affectionately known to many as Ron, 79, formerly of
Sullivan, MO passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on September 2, 1946, in
Kansas City, Missouri, to Claude and Dorothy (Earles) Collins, Ron's life was a vibrant journey that took him from the sunny shores of Huntington Beach, California, where he grew up and attended school, to the serene town of House Springs, where he spent his final years.
Ron's youthful spirit was mirrored by the ocean waves he so loved to surf. The discipline and joy he found in the sport were indicative of his approach to life-embracing each challenge with gusto and a can-do attitude. After his sun-drenched days on the California coast, Ron answered the call of duty and entered the United States Coast Guard, serving his country with honor and pride until he received his honorable discharge.
Ron's heart led him to June Napier, and their love blossomed into a family with the birth of their two sons, Rocklin and Shannon. Though Ron and June later parted ways, they remained united in their dedication to their sons. Port Orford, Oregon, became the backdrop for their family's story, with Ron working diligently in the timber industry. His roles as a millwright with Champion International and Western States mills were a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
In 1985, a new chapter began as Ron moved to Sullivan and joined the team at N.G. Heimos Greenhouses in Kirkwood, Missouri. His expertise and dedication quickly saw him rise to the position of dock manager, a role he held with distinction until his passing.
Ron's love for work was matched only by his passion for music. In his younger days, he played drums and shared his rhythm with the world as part of a band. His musical talent was a source of joy not only for him but for all who had the pleasure of listening.
Life in House Springs brought Ron together with his significant other, Sandy, and together they created a treasure of memories. Their life was filled with the simple pleasures that included tending to his garden-an activity that grounded Ron and brought him immense satisfaction.
Ron is survived by his son, Shannon Collins and wife, Desi of Coos Bay, OR; his grandchildren: Deven Collins and wife, Alex, Tabetha Collins and husband, Andrew all of Roseburg, OR; his great grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Chrysanthemum, & Talon; his significant other, Sandy Langford of
House Springs, MO; Sandy's children: Lisa & Scott Danford, Adam & Selma Langford, and Tony & Jessica Birnley; Sandy's grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Collins; a sister, Claudia Thorns of Nevada, MO; two nephews, David Thorns of
Kansas City, MO, and John Thorns of South Dakota; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Dorothy Collins; and a son, Rocklin Collins.
Private Graveside Services were held at Reedville Cemetery, Sullivan.
