GARRY "PETER RABBIT" RANDALL SANSON passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga surround by his loved ones. He was 73. Garry was a native of Franklin County born on November 14, 1951 to the late Raymond Sanson and Mary Sue McElyea Sanson Craig.
At the age of eighteen, Garry was drafted by the United States Army and became a lieutenant colonel. After the Vietnam War, Garry left the service and became employed by Tinsley Asphalt. He took great pride in his position as Foreman/Grader Operator and even appeared in a magazine where he was recognized for his grading skills. Garry was very skilled at the game of pool after learning to play by using a broom stick while he was stationed in Germany. He taught his son to play and they enjoyed many games together. Garry played until the age of sixty-nine. He was married to Linda Judge Sanson for twenty-five years and together they raised two children, Joey Sanson and Lisa (Charlie) Potter. Garry loved to spend time with his grandsons, Jeremy Sanson, Cole Potter, and Hunter Potter. He will be remembered for his fun-loving nature and his ability to make people laugh. His grandsons will always remember his strong dislike for pickles and teasing him with them. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends and his legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his siblings Zina "Ram" Craig Womack, Timothy Craig, Tammy Craig Davis, Ronald Sanson, and Jane Abigail "Gail" Craig Gipson.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his siblings Mary Ettalou "Lucy" Craig Bennett, Stanley Sanson, Clemmie Sanson Conn, James "Doug" Sanson, Arleen "Kaye" Henley, Raymond "Dale" Sanson, and special his friend, Amanda Krause.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm central time at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with funeral service following at 6:00pm with Bro. Don Parker officiating. Interment will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 1:00pm eastern time at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
