Gary Reed Arman

Gary Reed Arman was lifted into God's loving arms on October 25, 2024. Gary is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Pam, and their ten cherished children: Tim (Jenn), Kellie (Greg), Katie (Dan), Sean (Jenny), Bridgette (Chris), Meghan (Kenny), Ryan (Maria), Bryant, Colleen (Ryan), Brianna (Joe), 31 beautiful grandchildren, and siblings: Linda (Bauhman) Meshkin, Terry (Lynda) Arman, and Valarie (frank) Robinson.

Gary was born and raised in Kenmore on March 29, 1953, one of five. He went on to attend the University of Akron where he met the love of his life, Pam, who he would soon marry and go on to spend nearly 50 blessed years together. Little did they know then all that God had in store for their lives. Over the first twenty years of marriage they welcomed their ten children, one of whom he delivered at home, and raised them in the Catholic faith that was his compass. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Sebastian Catholic Church where he was active in many roles over the years, including usher, Knights of Columbus, Mens Group, Eucharistic Minister, and his childrens' favorite, CYO coach. Gary delighted in being a husband and father, and later a grandfather. Family time was the most precious time to him, whether camping, hiking or vacationing, he was always the first to join in the fun. To him, there was no better way to spend his time than with his wife, children, and grandchildren where adventure and laughter would certainly ensue. He enjoyed and took pride in his nearly forty-year career with the City of Akron, as a manager, where he was well-loved and respected. He took great pride in his city and showing it off.

Despite being an intimidating height of 6 foot 3, Gary was a gentle giant with a gorgeous smile, and he exemplified this gentleness in his everyday life with his family, friends and work. There didn't seem to be anything that he couldn't fix, from home repairs and cars to his kids' mistakes, of which there were many. He did it all with love, patience, and a level-headedness that we will no doubt strive to achieve in his absence. When he wasn't busy coming to his kids' rescue, he and Pam loved to travel to new places and spend time outdoors hiking and biking. He was not perfect, but he was perfect for us as a father and husband. And, in true form as the leader and protector of his family, Gary went to Heaven first so that he will continue to be there to guide and lead the way for the ones he loved the most.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Amilda Arman, and his sister, Diane. Visitation will take place at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio 44304 on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4-7 p.m with a Rosary Prayer Service at 6:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, October 31, 2024, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place directly following at Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina, Ohio.
