Gary Michael Armistead, of Loganville, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 74. Gary was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a hardworking provider who cherished his family above all. He found joy in camping at Fernandina Beach, watching the submarines, and savoring homegrown vegetables from his garden. A devoted Paw Paw, he was a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, offering his famous hugs and unwavering support. Known for his kindness, generosity, and enjoying the delicious meals his wife lovingly prepared, he touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. Gary will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Shockley and Mary Winston Armistead; and 14 siblings.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Armistead; daughter, Leslie Franklin (Rick); son, Chris Armistead (Melba-Jane); grandchildren, Emilee Young (Tyler); Grant Cartwright, Madaline Armistead, Austin Armistead (Mikayla Green); great-grandchildren, Audrey, Avery, Marlee, Natalee; sister, Patricia Armistead; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Service for Gary Armistead will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Larry Carter officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday, January 23, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
