Gary Bahn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pierre Funeral Home on Apr. 10, 2025.
Gary A. Bahn, of Evansville, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 9, 2025.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Gary's love and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and God Almighty shaped every aspect of his life. He often included a carefully chosen Bible verse in every letter, note, or card he sent, reflecting his heartfelt desire to share God's Word with others.
Gary dedicated his life to leading others to Christ and to teaching. He began his career at Reitz High School in Evansville, where he taught high school history for 17 years, passionately sharing his love for the subject with generations of students. In 1985, he took a brief break from teaching to pursue another passion - landscaping - and served as the head landscaper at Holiday Homes.
He later resumed his educational career in Georgia with Gwinnett County Public Schools, where he served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Gary also taught adult education through the Private Industry Council (PIC) in Evansville and later led classes at Georgia Gwinnett College. His passion for teaching was evident in the lasting impact he had on his students, many of whom remember him with admiration and gratitude.
Gary was also a devoted animal lover, especially fond of his three German Shepherds - Kaiser, Star, and Eva - who brought him great joy and companionship.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis A. Bahn; mother, Helen M. Bahn; and brother, Bruce A. Bahn.
Gary is survived by his sister, Darlene (Steve) Turpin; nephews Jeff (Debbie) Turpin and Chris Turpin; niece Stephanie (Ray) Todich; great-nephews and niece Jay Turpin, Danen Turpin, Cameron Turpin, Merrick Todich, Keston Todich, and Emma Turpin; great-great nephews Tripp Turpin, Acre Turpin and great-great niece Eartha Turpin.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students, and all who were touched by his kind heart, faithful spirit, and unwavering dedication to teaching and service.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:21
A Celebration of Life will be held in Evansville, IN at a later date. Friends will be notified via his Facebook account, email and phone calls.

Mr Bahn was my homeroom teacher all 4 years at Reitz. He was a true gentleman and Christian who lived his faith everyday in a quiet way that truly set him apart. He will be missed and fondly remembered. Rest in peace.
