Gary Alan Bowman, 67, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. Born in Franklin, Indiana, on July 1, 1958, he was the son of the late Wiley Robert and Patricia Ann (Gill) Bowman.

Gary was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and generous spirit. He was always quick with a one-liner, a helping hand, or a cup of coffee — preferably accompanied by a slice of French silk pie.

He began his working life as a pizza delivery driver at Nero’s Pizza in Whiteland during high school, a job he remembered fondly. His career took him into advertising, where he worked for firms including McCaffery and McCall, McQuade Bloomhorst, Bates USA, and Structure. Later, he transitioned to work as an IT contractor at Eli Lilly and Company. In addition to his professional work, Gary cared for his mother later in her life, a role he took on with compassion and dedication.

Gary had a love for the outdoors and spent time camping and canoeing. He was a fan of Indy Eleven soccer, Indiana Fever basketball, and any place serving a good coney dog — especially from Dog n Suds. Music was a constant presence in his life, and he enjoyed sharing it with others. He was also proud to serve as a scout leader, guiding and mentoring young people in his community.

He is survived by his sons, Nicholas (Laura) Bowman and Geoffrey (Danielle) Bowman; his grandchildren, Adrienne and Sonny; his brothers, Robert Bruce (Christine) Bowman and Mike (Sondra) Bowman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A private family viewing will be held, followed by cremation. There will be a greater celebration of life at a later date welcome to all family and friends.

Gary will be remembered for his humor, his love for simple pleasures, and the quiet care he showed for those around.
