Gary Adam Boyd

Mr. Gary Adam Boyd, age 42, of the Horton Ridge section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Friday (February 20, 2026) at his home. Born July 7, 1983 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Gary Junior Boyd of Swords Creek and the late Teresa Gay McGraw Boyd. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Honaker High School and had also earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He was employed as a Site Coordinator for Cramer Security and Investigation in Beckley, West Virginia for many years. A very talented musician, he could play most any instrument, preferring the drums, and played in several area bands over the years.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Lee and Nell Fern Byrd McGraw and paternal grandparents, Eugene Junior and Thelma Betty Jane Byrd Boyd.

In addition to his father, survivors include one son, Drake Lee Boyd; one brother, Matthew Lee Boyd; special aunts, Sherry Dale and Wanda Vance; special uncles, Jimmy Boyd and Chris Boyd; his fiancée, Mary Joe Ellen Ball; a special girl, Lacey Gray Jackson; and the mother of his son, Trenna Lloyd; special cousin, Angie Crawford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Brandon Estep and Rev. Brandon Hay officiating. Interment will follow in the McGraw Cemetery on Horton Ridge.

Pallbearers will be Kolby Dye, Jimmy Boyd, Chris Boyd, Jessie Altizer, Tommy Muncy, and Sean Mcelroy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Reynolds, Matt Puckett, Maverick Dale, Lance Akers, and Franklin Dale.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12 – 1 PM at the funeral home.
