Gary Buchler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Aug. 28, 2024.
Gary John Buchler of Collegeville, Pa passed away on August 23, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on January 25, 1962, to Carol A. Buchler (nee Benham) and the late Joseph R. Buchler; Gary was the beloved husband for 38 years of Stephanie (nee Stern) Buchler; loving father of Erik Alan Buchler (Jaclyn); dear brother of Joseph Jr. (Michele), Brad (Christine), Mary Beth Machon, Kurt (Michelle), Carolann (Jon) Zellers, and Janene (Brian) Owens; and cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Gary was an outstanding Journeyman/Foreman electrician for 46 years and was a retired member of IBEW Local Union 380/98 North. He was extremely proud to have been working for Belles Electrical Contracting for the past 21 years prior to his retirement. Gary enjoyed fishing, going to the beach in North Wildwood, and target shooting at the gun range. He was an avid Civil War and World War II history buff. Gary never met an animal he didn't love; he loved his cats, Cleo, Lucy and Harri, as well as feeding his stray cats, birds, and deer. When he had some down time, he enjoyed relaxing in his pool. He enjoyed watching the Eagles and Phillies with Stephanie and would call Erik to discuss plays or calls for either team that he didn't agree with.
Gary loved music – favorites included The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Carpenters, Chicago, Classical, Motown and Jazz, but a fan of so much more. A favorite vacation was to London, UK to see the 'Stones' at Wembley exactly 26 years ago in 1998. His knowledge and love of so many genres of music was a prevalent factor in his life.
But above all, he was an incredible family man and so very proud of his and Stephanie's son Erik, and the man Erik had become. Family itself, was the most important thing in his life.
Gary touched the lives of so many individuals. He had an amazing heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand when needed, or anything else that he may have been able to help someone with. He was a genuine person and loyal to his core. A fearless individual, he accepted challenges head-on and rose to the occasion. Although he may have seemed gritty at times, his strong will and contagious laugh will always be remembered.
Gary was extremely strong in his Catholic Faith, and above all, wanted everyone to believe in God. He knew his time was short, but he felt the presence of the Lord around him guiding him in these last months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Relatives, friends, and fellow members of Local 380 and IBEW Local 98, are invited to Gary's Life Celebration on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike; his funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 promptly at 10 AM (please arrive by 9:45 AM) at Sacred Heart Church, 838 Walnut St, Royersford, PA 19468; interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.

My condolences go out to Carol Buchler and her family on the loss of
Gary Buchler.I never met him,but he was one of my many second cousins.
He looked a lot like me,only with black hair.He liked a number of recording artists that I like,It was sad that he passed away not long
before the most recent Eagles' Super Bowl win.His sister,MaryBeth
Buchler Machon is a darling, both in looks and personality.
