Guy Buchler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - New Castle on Jan. 30, 2026.
Guy Buchler, age 69, of Selbyville, DE, and formerly of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on February 7, 1956, he was the son of the late Nathan and Regina (Mummaw) Buchler. Guy was a 1974 graduate of McKean High School and a 1978 graduate of Salisbury State College. He began his career in sales with Hostess Cakes followed by NKS Distributors. Guy took a Regional Sales Manager position for Beck's Beer in 1992, which relocated his family from Wilmington, DE to Ellicott City, MD. Though he stayed in the beverage industry, he left the beer world and joined Monster Energy as the East Regional Sales Manager until his retirement in 2017.

In his retirement, Guy enjoyed working part-time as a player assistant at Bayside Resort Golf Club and was a member of the Indian River Senior Golf League where he could be found on various golf courses every Monday. Anyone who knows Guy knows his enjoyment of watching game shows in his famous blue chair and "organizing" his garage.

Guy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Fern (Finch) Buchler; children, Patrick J. Buchler (Victoria) of Ellicott City, MD and Christine S. Storm (Tyler) of Pasadena, MD; grandchildren, Hailey and Riley Storm and Michael and Nathan Buchler. Guy is also survived by sister-in-law Lillian Hagee (Joe), brother-in-law Alfred Finch (Barb), Brett Buchler (Carol), many nieces and nephews, and an abundance of dear friends.

Guy is preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Regina, in-laws Alfred and Lillian Finch, and Robin Buchler.

Guy could be described as full of life, funny, kind, caring, good-hearted and one-of-a-kind. To know Guy was to love him and he never seemed to meet a stranger. His passing will leave a void in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Memories with Guy will last a lifetime.

A funeral mass will be offered at 1pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Luke R.C. Church, 9903 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD. Inurnment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, a Tribute donation may be made in Guy's memory to the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopedic Institute Spinal Cord Injury Fund, P.O. Box 64573, Baltimore, MD 21264-4573 or online by clicking here.

My first memory was going to Guys trailer with Fern in Ocean City. They had just started dating. I liked him the moment I meant him! I use to say to Fern, he is a good guy!

Guy was the kindest person and always made us feel welcome. The perfect host! He would always make us a special cocktail and loved dining. He loved Fern and was so proud of Patrick and Christine. We always had a good time with Fern and Guy.
I could say anything and tease with Guy because he loved to have a good time. He basically enjoyed people and life. Unfortunately, we did not get to see them as much in our later years as our grandkids took over our calendars in a good way!

We will miss him dearly because there were no bad days with Guy.

I had the pleasure of going to high school with Guy and seeing him with his wife Fern at our reunions. He always had a beautiful smile and kind heart. My condolences to Fern and the family and may God wrap his arms around you and grant you peace. Guy, we know you are in heaven smiling down on us all.
