Michael Thomas Connell Sr.

Michael Thomas Connell, Sr., age 55, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away at home on September 2, 2025.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Michael was the son of Alfred A. Connell, Jr. and Beverly K. Connell. He graduated from McKean High School in 1988, where he was a proud member of the McKean football team. A natural athlete, he also enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and later played softball in a recreational league as a young adult.
Michael worked for many years as a member of the UA Local 74 Plumbers & Pipefitters. Beyond work, he was known as someone who was easy to get along with and well liked by those who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Cheryl Paloni and he was the proud father of three children: Michael T. Connell, Jr., Chloe Connell, and Bernard "Benny" Paloni. He remained a lifelong friend to his first wife, Kim Brownmiller Connell, the mother of his two older children.
In addition to his children and spouse, Michael is survived by his siblings, Joi Campbell (John), Alfred A. Connell III (Deborah), and Jill Connell (Beate Pohlig). He will be remembered with love by his extended family, many friends, and all who shared in his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the New Castle County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5, located at 2744 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
