Gary Michael Bullard, 69, passed away surrounded by family in Loveland, Colorado, on August 18, 2023. Gary was a longtime resident of Salisbury, MD, and his life journey came to an unexpected end due to head injuries. He joyously spent his final days attending a family reunion in Estes Park, CO, enjoying the great outdoors, spotting local wildlife like elk and mule deer, and creating treasured memories with extended family.
Born and raised in Springfield, IL, Gary was one of seven children. His adventurous spirit knew no bounds; he was a dreamer with an independent and strong-willed personality who never let the words "can't" or "shouldn't" get in the way of doing things he loved. Gary graduated from Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in 1972 and then filled his youthful years with dirt bikes, motorcycle racing, and road trip (and hitchhiking) adventures.
Gary eventually landed in the Florida Keys where he met and married Dawn Wood, earned his general contractor license, and eventually established Gary Bullard Construction Company. He completed many residential and commercial projects across the lower Keys, including on Big Pine and Key West, throughout the late 70s and the 80s. After the birth of his first child, the family relocated to the Eastern Shore in 1989 where he became a respected figure in the construction industry. Gary took great pride in his role as a superintendent during his years working for M.L. Blades, Evans Builders, and SPN Inc. Since 2008, Gary had owned and operated Bullard Construction & Home Inspections in Salisbury.
He was an avid amateur pilot and adventured the skies aboard his ultralight airplanes. He was a visionary who designed a unique "roadable aircraft" and filed plans with the U.S. Patent office for his innovative flying car design. A proud American and enthusiastic 2A supporter, Gary was passionate about fighting for what he believed in. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and his community.
Above all, Gary was a loving and devoted father. He is survived by three children: Rebecca of Selma, NC, Alysha of Eden, MD, Clark of Salisbury, MD, and his beloved dog, affectionately nicknamed "Bozo." He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughters Shanna, Maci, and Natalie.
Gary is also survived by 5 siblings, all of whom were with him one last time in Colorado: Clark Bullard, Robert Bullard, Marcia Bullard, Suzanne Mansolilli, and Carol Bullard. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Clark and Eileen, his son Nelson, and his sister Barbara.
A celebration of life to honor Gary will be held later this fall in Salisbury, MD, the place he called home.
Gary will be remembered for his maverick spirit, his unwavering morals, and his boundless love for his family. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Cherry pies and airplane rides, my father taught me everything I know now growing up as a child and made sure I had the skills of life growing up. I will never forget him always teaching me anything and everything rather than just paying a contractor. I'll never forget him taking me on his job sites teaching me this and that but none the less always waking up everyday going to work, coming home after work having real home made dinner on the table, and giving us kids a very stable life. I love you dad and no memory will EVER go forgotten. XOXO I love you so much. Gone but NEVER forgotten!!!!
