On Sunday, October 12, 2025, Gary Wynn Burks, Jr., of Franklinton, Louisiana, passed away at the age of 28. Born in Baton Rouge and raised primarily in Livingston, Louisiana, Gary was a 2015 graduate of Albany High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Wynn Burks, Sr. (2000) and Denise Beasley Russell (Randy) (2025), and his sister, Sarah (2005).
Gary was the beloved fiancé and partner of Jade Adam, and the devoted father of his two-year-old daughter, Ivy Ann Burks—his “Darlin’,” and the absolute love and light of his life.
Gary, is survived by his siblings: Tony (Kayla), Dalton (Stephanie), Corey (Desiree), Lacy, Levi, Joshua and Cody. He adored his nieces and nephews: Haley, Gary Michael, Lexi Ann, Duncan, Kian, Kota, Lana and Trinity.
A special mention is made to a dear friend and guiding presence in Gary’s life, Mr. Herb Brown.
Gary was a talented and highly skilled structural fitter. Always eager to learn, he was preparing to pursue a career in computer and game programming and design. He had a deep curiosity for knowledge, with a love for history, science, animals and nature. A true old soul, Gary believed in living life with integrity—doing the right thing even when no one was watching. He dreamed of one day raising a large family of his own on his own homestead in Maine. Gary had a remarkable ability to pick up new skills quickly. Music was one of his lifelong passions, from his days in the school band playing quads, to mastering various guitars and other instruments. He also found joy and purpose in cooking and baking—his way of showing love to those around him. Among his fondest memories were childhood days spent with his siblings around the tire swing at their childhood home, time in the kitchen with his “Mumma,” and fishing trips with his grandfather, Herschel.
Gary was kind, genuine, funny, and soft-hearted—truly one of a kind. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A God-fearing father, fiancé, son, brother, and friend— This is not goodbye, but "I'll see you later."
