Gary Chumley Obituary
Gary graduated in 1971 from Wainwright High School. He retired from Jefferson Smurfit in Lafayette after 30 years. After their closing, he took care of his mother in her home for several years. Gary loved to socialize with anyone wanting to talk and enjoyed passing out "Kisses" to those who crossed his path. He loved to watch Grit, Perry Mason, and Matlock, playing darts, working on cars, garage sales, and taking trips to Tennessee to visit family. Gary had recently started attending the Mulberry United Methodist Church.
Along with his wife, Gary is survived by his children, Molly (Josh) Dowell of Lafayette, Jack Thomas(Taelynn) Chumley of Lafayette, Gary Lee Chumley of Mulberry, and Mendy Sue (Mark) Helmerick of Lafayette; sister Sue (Jim) Wilson of Monticello; grandchildren, Keegan and Karson Helmerick, Felysiti and Bo Chumley, and Sully Chumley; and an aunt, Mary Bolden of Tazewell, TN.
Preceding Gary in death are his parents; son, Neal Lewis Chumley; paternal grandparents, Neal and Roxie Chumley; and maternal grandparents, Henry and Vina Fultz.
Visitation will be Friday, June 3, 2022, from 4pm until the time of the service at 6pm at Genda Funeral Home ~Mulberry Chapel 204 N. Glick St. Mulberry, IN. Graveside services will follow on Saturday June 4, 2022, at 2pm at the Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry. Pastor Kevin Smith will officiate. Genda Funeral Home~Mulberry Chapel is assisting with the arrangements. Memorial donations in Gary's name may be given to the Mulberry United Methodist Church PO Box 339 Mulberry, IN 46058.
