Gary W. Claybaugh, 86, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, February 5, 2024, at home.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to QC Paws.
Gary Wayne Claybaugh was born May 1, 1937, in Viola, Illinois, the son of Edward Wayne and Minnie “Evelyn” (Gearhart) Claybaugh. He married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Coffman on September 10, 1959, in Monmouth, Illinois. She died June 2, 2022.
Gary retired from Case IH. He loved music and was gifted at playing several different instruments. He also enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife. Their friends at the campground always enjoyed when Gary would DJ their events. He also loved antique cars, animals, and was the neighborhood handyman.
He is survived by two children, Brian (Peggy) Claybaugh of El Cajon, California, and Karen Claybaugh of Coal Valley; six grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Leuenhagen, Jeriah Edgar, Chad Claybaugh, Ashley (David) Rowatt, James McMurty and Sean McMurty; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda and Betty Claybaugh.
