Gary Allen Coffman, 82, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away on November 3, 2025.
Born January 1, 1943 in Hancock, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Coffman and Mildred Madeline (Hixon) Coffman of Hancock, Maryland. Gary was a graduate of Hancock High School with the Class of 1960 and later graduated from the U.S. Army Signal School in Ordinance Electronics. Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963 and was stationed in South Korea. He was employed by C&P Telephone, Bell Atlantic and Verizon for 39 years and retired from Verizon in 2002. He attended Concordia Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda and two daughters, Dana Grove and husband Beau and Angela Hershberger and husband Steve; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse and Natalie. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Coffman and wife Diane as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Coffman.
Services will be held at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home 141 West Main Street, Hancock Maryland on day of Saturday, November 8 at 12 PM with Pastor Mark Moretz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery at 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, Maryland 21750. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church c/o Cemetery Fund, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, Maryland 21750.
