Carol Susan Divelbiss, 82, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at home on Friday, October 31st, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1943 in Wheeling, WV to the late William Andrew and Alma (Tomlinson) O'Toole. She was a 1961 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. Carol married the love of her life, Dennis H. Divelbiss, (deceased) on February 11th, 1967. They were married for 46 years. Carol was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and was proud to be a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #378 and of the Women's Club in Hagerstown. She retired from DM Bowman and enjoyed spending her time with her friends and family, especially with her three grandsons. She loved reading, going to the pool, and taking trips to the beach.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Diana K. Gray (Neal) of Hagerstown, MD and Sally A. Rogers (Steve) of Hagerstown, MD. Carol was most proud of her three grandchildren, Evan Gray, Lukas Rogers, and Jackson Rogers. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor O'Toole, brother-in-law James R. Divelbiss (Belinda), brother-in-law J. Gary Divelbiss, and sister-in-law Cheryl Divelbiss (Alan). Carol is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Bryan Laffernan, Gary Divelbiss, Karen Divelbiss, Amy Lafferman, Laura Divelbiss, Jamie Divelbiss, William O'Toole, Colleen Kessler, Erin Maroney, and Maureen South. In addition to her beloved husband, she is also preceded in death by her beloved brother, William A. O'Toole III, sister-in-law Jennie Divelbiss, and her uncle, Alfred Tomlinson.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd N, Hagerstown, MD 21742, from 6:00-8:00PM on Friday, November 7th, to reminisce and honor the life of Carol.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 8th, at 10:00AM at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home and interment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
