Gary Cusson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home on Dec. 3, 2025.
Gary A. Cusson, 78, of Plantsville, beloved husband of Lauriette (Lussier) Cusson for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hartford, to the late Henry and Vivian Cusson, Gary graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1966. He was drafted into the United States Army and bravely served two tours in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Specialist 5. During his service, he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged following six years of service, Gary worked as a plumber for Central Connecticut State University for 30 years before retiring.
Gary was an avid sports memorabilia collector, animal lover, artist, and all-around handyman. He was a proud member of the VFW, the American Legion, and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. Above all, Gary loved his family. He worked tirelessly, often picking up overtime to provide for them. One of his greatest joys was taking his family to Misquamicut Beach, where they spent a cherished week each summer, creating memories they will forever hold close.
In addition to his wife, Gary leaves behind his son, Gregory Cusson; his daughter, Kimberly Morin and her husband Brian Morin; his grandchildren, Joseph and Kendall Gratta, Brianna Morin, and Alexa Morin; his sister, Karen Sylvain and her husband Dale Sylvain, and their children Eric and Amanda Sylvain; and his sister, Gail Ward and her husband Rick Ward. Gary is predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Cusson and his wife Diane Cusson.
Calling hours will be Sunday, December 7, from 2:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 494 New Britain Avenue, Hartford.
