Gary Howard Davis, age 77, of Petersburg, TN, passed away on January 30, 2025. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home, with Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Farm Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until 2 PM on Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home.
Born on September 20, 1947, in Lewisburg, TN, Gary-also known as "G" or "Ducky"-was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He had a knack for woodworking, loved restoring clocks, and never met a motor he couldn't tinker with, from chainsaws to classic cars. When he wasn't in his workshop, he could be found on his farm, tending to his Black Angus cattle.
Gary leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Brenda Sue Mitchell; his children, Lucy Davis, Nolan (Krissy) Davis, and Sherry Davis; and his grandchildren, Hannah Davis, Madison Pigg, Ryland Davis, and Marcus Hyde. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, Becky (Mark) Welch, Mona Pittman, Rita (Robert) Crane, and Gina (Denton) Reid, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, family members, and dear friends. He is now reunited with his parents, Arthur Howard and Mary Lou Welch Davis, as well as his brothers, Billy Welch and Bobby (Daisy) Welch.
Gary lived a full life doing what he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered with every tick of a restored clock and every rev of a well-tuned engine.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Gary Howard Davis.
