Gary D. Davis, of Clairton, was born in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Adolph Davis, Jr., and Pauline Frances Gibson Davis.
Gary is the second of three boys. He grew up in McKeesport, PA, and attended McKeesport area elementary schools and McKeesport High School, a graduate of the class of 1973. Gary participated in the band from elementary through graduation and excelled in playing woodwind instruments. A participant in wrestling and track teams. He was an art student and received numerous awards for painting and jewelry making.
Gary worked at US Steel Clairton and Ambridge Mill in Harmarville, PA, while attending Robert Morris University after graduating from high school, where he received his stockbroker and series seven securities licenses. This work took him out of the country for twenty-plus years. On returning home, he held various jobs related to finance. He retired from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency in 2023.
Gary grew up attending Gethsemane COGIC and accepted Christ as his personal savior in his early twenties, advancing his spiritual walk to Elder. He taught bible study for many years in local and surrounding church communities. His love of the word was deep and sincere, leading him to constantly study for hours on end till the end of his life.
Gary departed this life on April 10, 2025, at AHN Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Pauline Frances Gibson Davis, father, Adolph Davis, Jr., step-grandsons, David R. Williams, Jr., and Jayshaun A. Hampton Whitaker.
Gary is survived by his loving partner and spouse of thirteen years, Valda (Marshall); two brothers, Adolph Davis of Cleveland, OH, Shawn Davis of McKeesport, PA; two stepdaughters, Audrey Hampton, Lauren Bangura; stepson, Elijah Hampton; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
