Gary J. DeFranco, age 74, of Eastlake, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025. He was born in Cleveland on April 19, 1950, to Pasquale and Dolores (Delsanter) DeFranco.
A proud graduate of Cathedral Latin High School in 1968, Gary went on to serve his country as a member of the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. His love for life and adventure extended beyond his military service, with passions for Frank Sinatra's music, karaoke, Indians baseball, and NHRA racing.
Gary was a man of bold spirit-never one to shy away from a challenge. Whether it was rolling the dice at the craps table or taking risks in life, Gary lived with unshakable confidence. He was a lover at heart, yet always ready to fight for what he believed in, living life "His Way," just like Sinatra's famous tune.
Proud of his Italian heritage, Gary embodied the strength, resilience, and passion of his roots. A true legend, he was the last of a dying breed-a man who made his mark in the world with a bold personality and unrelenting zest for life.
He was incredibly proud of his children, Gary M. and Robert (Ana), whose accomplishments filled him with immense joy. His grandchildren, Fernando, Alexander, and Maya, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Gary is also survived by his sister, Karen DeFranco (David Karafa); nieces, Dina Reader and Elisa Irwin (Thomas); great-nephew Jude, and great-niece Olivia.
Gary was laid to rest on April 11, 2025, at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and living life to the fullest.
