Gary Lee Dixon, 82, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born in Norfolk County, VA on July 16, 1942 and was the husband of 31 years to Terry Lou Dixon of the home.
Gary was of the Methodist faith. For nearly twenty years he worked in Textiles, including Burlington Industries and Flynt Fabrics. He had a love for golf, casinos and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed frequent trips to Florida and to the mountains in Gatlinburg, TN and Maggie Valley. Gary loved time spent with his family and his feline companion, “Mushroom” who misses him dearly.
Gary is survived by his wife, Terry; sons, Jeff Dixon (Jamie), Greg Dixon; step-children, Thomas Newell, Jody Newell and Chris Bristow (Serin); grandchildren, Kendal Dixon and Jana Dixon and their mother, June Crabtree Dixon and Erick Dixon (Monica); great granddaughter, Kinleigh Dixon; brothers, Wayne Dixon (Jackie), Max Dixon (Pilar); sister, Sheila R. Dixon-Embuscado (Fred) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Captain Alvin Mack Dixon; mother, Mildred Dixon; step-mother, Otilia “Tillie” Dixon and a brother, Lester Dixon.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
