Gary Dorf passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 24, 2025, at Essentia St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd, Minnesota. He was born on August 26, 1950, to parents Beatrice (McEachern) and Dennis Dorf.
Gary graduated from North High School with the Class of 1968. Following high school, he began his working career with Schweigert’s Meat Company. He later worked for the International School of Minnesota, and eventually for the City of Coon Rapids in the Maintenance Department at City Hall. Gary took great pride in his work and in the many friendships he made throughout the years.
On August 3, 1973, Gary was united in marriage to Pamela “Pam” Nelson in Cherokee Heights, Minnesota. Together they were blessed with one daughter, who was the joy of his life.
Gary loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening and biking in his younger years. Whether tending to his plants or spending quiet time outside, he found peace and happiness in nature. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steady work ethic, and the love he had for his family.
Gary is survived by his spouse, Pamela (Nelson) Dorf; his daughter, Jennifer (Dorf) Schneider (Mike); four grandchildren, William (Leanne), Nicholas, Benjamin, and Katherine Schneider; one great-grandchild, Jack Schneider; his brother, Roger Dorf; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Dennis Dorf; and his sisters, Gayle Leuer and Judy Myers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Essentia St. Joseph’s Hospital for the love, care, and comfort they provided. Gary will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for his unique sense of humor, his unconditional love, and his generosity.
Funeral services will take place at a later date.
