Gary Hollis Emery, 73, of Fremont, OH went to be with his Lord on March 11, 2026 at Elmwood Communities in Fremont, OH. He was born on May 9, 1952 in Fremont, OH the son of Gale H. and Bonita (Hoff) Emery. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Clyde-Green Springs High School.
Gary served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1971-1974. He served as an aircraft mechanic on the USS Midway. He received the National Defense Medal, Meritorious Commendation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, AF Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.
Gary married Lynn (LeJeune) Emery on October 6, 1990 in Fremont, OH and she survives. He worked at Vickery Environmental for thirty-seven years until he retired in 2011. He also worked in maintenance at Victory Church for many years.
Gary attended Journey Church where he was very active on various committees. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and canning. Known for his sense of humor, he lived peacefully, worked hard, and showed great patience.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lynn Emery, Fremont, OH; children, Greg (Rachael Adams) Emery, Worlingworth, England, Kelly (Linda Coberly) Emery, Chicago, IL, Ben (Ellen) Emery, Burgoon, OH; step-sons, Eli Fausey, Helena, OH, Ross Fausey, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Will Fausey, Montana Emery, Wilson Emery, Waylon Fausey, Jane Emery; siblings, Rae Ann Brooks, Indianapolis, IN, Mitchell (Marie) Emery, Maumee, OH, Dana (Lena) Emery, Green Springs, OH, Brian (Lori) Emery, Delaware, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St., Green Springs, OH. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials can be made in Gary’s honor to Journey Church, Fremont, OH.
