Gary Estes

Gary Estes, age 79, resident of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at CHI Memorial Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mr. Estes, son of the late Thomas Woodrow Estes and Jessie Lee Henderson Estes, was born August 19,1946 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era Conflict. Upon leaving the military, he worked for Combustion as a draftsman. Later, he began a career with Westinghouse where he faithfully worked for over 48 years, retiring as a Project Manager.

Mr. Estes was a member of the Thompkins Masonic Lodge #466 F&AM; member of the Alhambra Shrine where he provided much entertainment to kids as a clown.

He enjoyed fishing, golf, and trips to the beach with his family. While at home, he cooked for his family, made fishing lures, and then began making earrings as a past-time hobby. He also enjoyed listening to Jimmy Buffet music, reading many books, and watching movies (particularly James Bond). Most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and his dogs. The family remembers him as a lovable, giving, and very personable man, always smiling, and a true jokester.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Estes.

Mr. Estes is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Martha "Mot" Estes; one sister, Vickie (Albert) Stephens; one grandson, Cole Thomas Estes; many other relatives and friends.

The family will Celebrate his life at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Monday, March 30,2026 from 4-8 p.m.
