It is with a deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of Gary Dean Fisher, 67. He was taken from our lives on Sunday, October 19th, 2025.

Gary’s journey began on January 13th, 1958. He was born to Stanley R. Fisher and Edna M. (Bunch). Years later, Stanley would remarry, and Frances L. (Leftwich) would join the family. Gary was a character growing up. His sibling could share stories of his antics that could entertain a crowd for hours. Mischievous, but never malicious, young Gary could always be found pulling pranks on, or with his brothers. Between the 6 siblings, Gary, Pam (Chuck) Payne, David, Dewey, Leonard, and baby sister Tammy Fisher, a dull moment was never to be had.

Even as a young boy, Gary had an incredible work ethic. His first job, at 11 years old, was with his brother building wooden parts for small airplanes.

From then on, Gary was always working hard somewhere, or on something, a trait he picked up from his father, Stanley.

Throughout his life, Gary relocated often, like a nomad. In 1980, he found the first place he could call home, within the heart of the love of his life, Patricia R. Fisher (Douglas). She and her young son, George S., opened up their lives to Gary, and after an intimate ceremony on December 16th, 1980, the trio became a family. Later, they would welcome into their lives three girls, Shanada N., Tiffany M., and Leticia R.

Gary was an incredible father. He loved his children so much. Always ready to be there for them, whether it was with a ride to practice, a teaching moment involving a flat tire, or passing on his fun loving, pranking nature. Gary had a special bond with each of his children.

The only thing Gary loved more than his children was Patty. The adoration, the partnership, the respect, the love that he held for his wife is something special. The love they have for each other grew stronger and stronger throughout the years. Always seeking to lift each other up, help each other grow individually and together, and standing beside each other no matter what life threw their way. Gary was strong, but together they were a force to be reckoned with. Through many locations, from California to Colorado, and many jobs, from grocery to IT, and one adventure after another, as a team they faced life’s trials and triumphs.

Over the last 22 years, Gary earned the endearing title of “Papa” (just like his own beloved father). Adding to the love in his heart with every grandchild, Dominic R., Olivia R., Jarrett D., Daniel S., Alexander C., Jace J., and Jayden D. Their Papa will always be so proud of each of them.

Gary was a wonderful brother, a great brother-in-law, an exceptional father in law, and will be missed by the slew of nieces and nephews that he loved so very much.

23 years ago this month, Gary found the last place that his heart would call home, in the little village of Lewellen, Nebraska. After commuting between Lewellen and Denver for a few years, he decided to try his hand at operating heavy machinery. For a couple of years, he worked for the Road and Bridge department in nearby Julesburg, Colorado. He learned a ton, and always seemed to enjoy it, even when he found himself having to regularly replace Rudolph’s nose.

In December of 2007, Gary and Patty took on another adventure, The Blind Goose, bar and restaurant. So many memories were made, so much laughter, and so many steaks. It was during his time at the Goose that Gary connected with community members that he would call friends.

Gary loved his community, and his friends. He was always there with an open heart, ready to help wherever he could. Even after The Goose closed its doors in March of 2023, Gary could be found helping someone with a project, lending a hand to a neighbor, or helping out at Gracious Givers. He was loyal, selfless, and nothing short of an incredible human being. Gary loved deeply and truly cared about those around him. If you are someone whose life was touched by Gary, just know that you touched his life, too. His loss will be felt deeply.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Stanley R., mother, Edna M., stepmother, Frances L., sister, Pamela I., son in law, Jentry A., and nephew Jim R.
