Gary "Frog" Wheeler Obituary

Gary "Frog" Wheeler, aged 60, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, departed from this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Gary was a devoted father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose warmth and humor endeared him to all who knew him. He cultivated lasting memories through his passions for fishing and hunting, activities that inspired the affectionate nickname "Frog." An enthusiastic supporter of the University of Kentucky, Gary took great joy in watching their games. His calm demeanor belied a spirited character, and he often brought laughter to those around him with his playful sense of humor.

Born on August 24, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Charles and Alta (Burton) Wheeler, Gary was welcomed into a loving family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Wheeler, who, along with his family and friends, will be cherished in the memories they shared.

Gary is survived by his beloved son, Gary Douthat; his brother, Larry (Sheila) Wheeler; his cherished grandchildren, Kayden and Kenady Douthat; his nieces, Ria and Journey Wheeler; as well as a multitude of family and friends whose lives he touched.

Visitation to honor Gary's memory will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions. A celebration of his life will follow with a Funeral Service on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Highland Memorial Gardens in Mt. Washington, Kentucky.

In remembrance of Gary, we invite you to share your memories and leave messages for his family in the guestbook below. His loving spirit will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
