Gary Wayne Griffin, 69, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home in Little Elm, TX. He was born November 11, 1955 in Dallas, TX to Daniel and Beulah Maxine (Thorell) Griffin. He married Dorothy Dell Young in Duncanville, TX on May 24, 1986. They enjoyed 37 years of marital bliss.
Gary grew up in Garland, TX and graduated from South Garland High School in 1974. He worked for Dresser industries for twenty plus years until the plant was closed. He started out as a graveyard machinist and worked his way up to be the receiving specialist. After the dresser industry's plant closed, Gary found a job as a truck driver for Steven's transport. He worked his way up from beginning truck driver to recovery driver. To become a recovery driver at Steven's Transport, Gary had to have ten plus years of driving experience and an excellent driving record. He visited all forty-eight contiguous states and Canada during his tenure with Steven's. Gary retired from Steven's at the age of 62 to take care of his ill wife. His hobbies included watching football, baseball and horse racing. When he was younger, he was quite a bowler and sometimes a skeet shooter. Gary's favorite snack was a pickle loaf sandwich.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsie Griffin of Little Elm, TX; stepdaughter, Sabrina Lambert and husband Bryan of Waxahachie, TX; brother, Don Griffin of Prosper, TX; niece, Joanie Lester and husband Steve of Prosper, TX; and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, April 21, 2025, at Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, TX.
On-line condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
