After her courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Kathryn Lorene Martinelli went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. Kathy was born on December 21, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to George and Dorothy Edgar. She grew up in Garland and graduated from South Garland High School in 1968. She met the love of her life, Tim Martinelli, on a blind date and they married on June 28, 1968.
Kathy loved the Lord, reading her Bible, and was very involved in church choir. Kathy was an excellent seamstress who loved sewing clothes, numerous dance costumes, baby outfits for her granddaughters, and exquisite quilts that will be cherished for years to come. One of her hobbies she enjoyed was genealogy and she dedicated her time to tracing her heritage where her Daddy left off to England and Scotland, as well as the Martinelli lineage to Northern Italy. She also adored flowers and was an avid gardener for as long as she was physically able, whereafter she directed Tim on what to plant where. Kathy loved to cook and bake. She was famous for her Christmas cookies, cakes, and pies with homemade crust she proudly perfected.
Above all, Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family, and nothing made her happier than time spent with family and grandkids, who affectionately called her Noni. She will be remembered for her gracious spirit and deep love for her family and Savior, Jesus Christ, who she gave all the Glory.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Edgar; mother-in-law, Evelyn Martinelli; sister, Doris Bernice Barbay and husband Tanner; sister Phyllis Ann Adams and husband Alan; brother-in-law, Mike Sperling; and sister-in-law, Susie Martinelli.
