Born to Houston Henry and Lena Mae Carnahan Hambrick on July 11, 1937, in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas. He was raised by his loving parents on family farm in Milford TX. He attended Milford schools until graduating in May 1956. He attended First Christian Church, Milford, as a boy and young teenager, accepting Jesus as Savior at age 13, and his favorite scripture verse was Matthew 6:33 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." Other than being Involved with school, church and Boy Scouts, he loved to hunt and fish, spending many hours on Richland Creek finding Indian arrowheads. His dad taught him to have respect for others and always work hard. His mother taught him to be sensitive and even how to set a formal dinner party table. He started working for Dallas Power & Light in June 1956 as an apprentice electrician, then after the company merged becoming Texas Utilities Electric Company, continued and became Electrician/Foreman, building high-voltage substations around Dallas County; with the last four years as Equipment Analyst, in the downtown Dallas office. He retired in October 1992. He joined the U S Air Force Reserves, Feb 1960 and was honorably discharged January 22, 1966.
Gary had one daughter, Ronda Renee Hambrick. He married Sharion Jolene Driggars Hoops on April 14, 1977. They lived in Red Oak TX for 5 years, then moved back to the family's farm building their first house, living in it for over 17 years. They sold this home in June 1999 and went full-time RVing. In 2000 they joined Hard Hats for Christ Organization, work volunteering at Christian camps and churches. A second house was built in 2004 on the family farm, and sold it in 2008, going full-time again. In October 2003, joined SOWERs (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready) a Christian volunteer working ministry (based in Lindale TX), helping at Christian camps and churches across the country. Health reasons caused him and Jolene to hang up their 'toolbelts' in December 2014. They then took up residence in Lindale TX where he lived until his death. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Lindale, where he served a few years on the Building & Grounds Committee and a member of the Samaritan Sunday School Class.
