Gary Hamilton December 15, 1945 – August 3, 2025 We lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gary Hamilton, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He passed away peacefully at home in Painted Post, surrounded by the family who loved him. Born in Corning, NY on December 15, 1945, Gary was the son of Francis and Inez (Ross) Hamilton. He graduated from Painted Post High School in 1963 and later served his country with honor as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Gary married the love of his life, Suzanne (Cole) Hamilton, and together they shared 55 years of marriage, raising a family rooted in curiosity, nature, and quiet strength. Gary worked as a computer programmer at Dresser-Rand for over 30 years and retired in 2012. His work in D-Class programming earned him recognition and awards-but he was never one to boast. He simply loved solving problems and building things that worked. Outside of work, Gary was a man of many passions. He was a skilled woodcarver, crafting Santa Clauses, snowmen, and figurines that captured the whimsy and warmth of his spirit. He loved hiking, camping, traveling, sailing, flying RC airplanes, and listening to classic country music. He found deep peace in the outdoors, especially in the quiet of trees-he was known to joke that he would "never cut one down." Gary spent time with local groups. At Watson Homestead he taught kids archery and volunteered at the Sugar House. At the Senior Center he ran the carving group. He also led Boy Scouts Troop 29 as the scout master for 20+ years. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, and their four children: Martin (Jocelyn), Andrew (Krissy), Cris (Jenn), and Kate Antone (Paul); as well as his beloved grandchildren: Julia, Max, Isabelle (Tyson Winder), Lilly, Harper, Whitney, Anna, Cole, and Ian. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In honor of Gary's gentle heart and lifelong love for children, donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/ or you can donate to: Wreaths Across America, https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc, 216 E. 1st St., Corning, NY 14830, where a Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm. Interment, with full Military Honors will be held at Bath National Cemetery in Bath, NY at 2:00 pm. Please arrive at the cemetery 15 minutes early if you are only attending his burial. All others will follow in procession when services conclude at the funeral home.

I have so many great memories of Gary, me and my brothers growing up together in Painted Post. There were a few shenanigans to go with those stories. He was a really dear frined and I'll never forget him. Sorry I haven't seen him in such a long time. Sally and I extend our deepest condolences to Sue and the family. Rest in peace my friend.
