Memorial services for Gary Heaton will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Pingelton officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Gary Dale, son of the late Joseph D. and Doris E. (Bickel) Heaton, was born December 2, 1952, at Alva, and passed away March 8, 2025, at Midwest City, at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 6 days.
Gary was born and raised in Alva where he graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1971 and later graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1976. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was self-employed as a welder and carpenter. Gary enjoyed watching his nephews in all their activities, watching and announcing rodeos, attending any Ranger and Goldbug sports, country western dancing, hunting, and, of course, McDonald's with the coffee group.
Besides his parents, Joe and Doris, he was preceded in death by a great nephew, Josten Heaton; aunt, Pat Percival; uncles, Richard Heaton and Ronnie Heaton; and a cousin, Terry Percival.
Gary is survived by his brothers, Joe Heaton and his wife, DeeAnne, of Edmond, and Dan Heaton and his wife, Karen, of Alva; nephews, Andrew Heaton, Adam Heaton, Jeff Heaton and his wife, Jaci, and Derek Heaton and his wife, Beth; great nephews; great niece; uncle, Bill Percival; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the NWOSU Foundation.

Needless to say, Gary was "one of a kind"; a joy to have around. Dale & I always looked forward to visiting with Gary & having his surprise visits in our home; at the farm & here, in Alva! I'm really going to miss looking for "just the right card" for Gary's birthday!!
May each of your hearts hold special memories of one so dear to you!!
