Gary Lee Henderson, 70, of Camby, passed peacefully in the comfort of the Franciscan Hospice House with family at his side on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis on August 7, 1954 to the late Pleas Verlin Henderson and Myrtle Lyvonia (Barnett) Henderson.
He married the love of his life, Ellen May Louise Smith, on April 17, 1978. They have enjoyed over 46 years of marriage and were together blessed with four daughters, Amanda, Angela, Sarah, and Courtney.
Gary was an avid wheeler and dealer and loved looking for bargains at garage sales. He also was handy and enjoyed fixing and selling things. He was also the cook of the house and truly enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. All who know Gary will recall his kindhearted and giving nature. He truly embodied the saying that he would give you the shirt off his back.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family including his wife, Ellen Henderson; daughters, Angela (husband, Mitchell) Nelson, Sarah (wife, Amanda) Henderson, and Courtney Henderson; brothers, Pleas “Paul” Henderson Jr, Johnny Henderson, and Ricky (wife, Annette) Henderson; sisters, Nancy Hutzel Nolan (husband, Mike); grandchildren, Austin (wife, Julissa) Wampner, Dayton Arthur, Trenton Wampner, Madison Arthur, Kember Henderson, James Henderson, Lorraine Nelson, Barrett Nelson, Kaylee Spears, and Joey Spears; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Myrtle and Pleas Henderson; and daughter, Amanda Wampner.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, September 26th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Gary’s Life Celebration® Service will follow beginning at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Following the service, Gary’s earthly remains will be cremated.
