Gary Lynn Henderson, 75, of rural Havana, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his home.
He was born on November 4, 1949, in Caney, Kansas to Q.C. and Mary Ann "Marie" (Bruce) Henderson. Gary grew up on the family farm northwest of Niotaze, Kansas. He attended grade school in Niotaze and completed grade school in Sedan, graduating from Sedan High School in 1967. Gary attended Coffeyville Community College and continued his education at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
On March 19, 1972, he married Kathy Currier at Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville where Gary was employed at Farmland Refinery (now Coffeyville Resources) holding many different positions throughout his career there, retiring as Area 1 Supervisor. He also continued helping his parents on the family farm. After retiring from the refinery he farmed full time. He and Kathy at that time made their home to Havana Lake.
Gary not only followed in his father's footsteps in farming but also serving as President of Twin Caney Watershed District #34 for over 30 years. Gary also served on the State Association of Kansas Watersheds for several years. He loved the farm and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home; his daughter Heather Lowrance and husband Jeff of Omaha, Nebraska; and grandsons Max Lowrance and Wyatt Lowrance both of Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents Q.C. and Marie Henderson, sister Glenda McDonald, and brother Greg Henderson.
Following Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas. Chaplain Stephen Foraker will officiate.
