Gary J. Hershberger

Gary Hershberger, age 66, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully from Pancreatic Cancer, on June 11, 2025, while in Hospice at Christiana Care Hospital.
He was born on July 4, 1958, in Cumberland, MD to Grace and Raymond "Bud" Hershberger. He graduated from Allegany High School in Cumberland, MD in 1976 and went on to earn both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration from Frostburg State College. Throughout his career, he worked most notably at: Pepsi Cola (beverages), Del Collo Windows & Doors, NCP (environmental instrumentations), and NEXA (Brazilian Conglomerate).
Gary enjoyed an active lifestyle, including ATV riding, cycling, hiking, motorcycling, running, skiing, traveling, and woodworking. However, his fondest memories and greatest joy came from riding his ATV and cycling with his many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Yvonne, and their son, Samuel; his mother, Grace; his brother Frank (Theresa); his nephew, Justin; niece, Alexa (Josh Riggs); and numerous extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial service, coordinated by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Connection Community Church, 4744 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown, DE 19709, visitation from 4 to 6 pm, and services will begin at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, Gary's last wish was for a memorial bench to be placed alongside the biking trail near where he grew up. Contributions to help build and install this bench can be made at [gofundme.com/f/garys-memorial-bench]. Any remaining funds will be donated to the 'Friends for Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute,' which sponsors cancer research and provides support programs for cancer patients and their families.
