Gary Wayne Jamison, 71, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away on June 13, 2025. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Gary was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Earl Sloan and Leona Jamison (née DeGonia). He is survived by his sons, Timothy and Dustin; his granddaughter, Ashley; his great-grandchildren, Addilyn and Zachary; his sisters, Donna, Nancy, and Julie; his nieces, nephews, and many many friends.
Gary was passionate about knowledge and deeply involved in the world around him. He was a political activist, environmentalist, rabid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and a music enthusiast with a love for all genres. He was especially proud of his degrees in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Cleveland State University, as well as his Master's in Library Science from Kent State University.
In his professional and volunteer life, Gary made an impact. He volunteered as an archaeologist at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and served as a docent at the Dunham Tavern Museum. He also gave his time to the Medina County Democratic Party each year when he could. A music lover to his core, Gary was a DJ at WCSB, hosting The Morning Maniac Music Show and The Folk Rotation.
Gary's family and friends will miss him dearly. He was known for his kindness, intelligence, humor, and deep love for those around him. He was a man of great passion and a devoted friend, always quick to lend a hand or share a laugh.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held later this summer. Details will be shared with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Medina County Historical Society, where Gary had been enjoying volunteering and researching historical documents and land deeds at the time of his death.

So sorry to hear this. Such a beautiful soul. I would imagine there is a great party happening in Heaven. Until we all meet again.... My sincere condolences to the family.

The Jamison's were my neighbors in the Hadcock and Ruth drive neighborhood in the 60's and 70's. He was more my older brothers friend, as I was younger, and probably a pest, but remember swimming with him in their pool and playing football in the snow. I always thought he was so cool, especially when he came home from playing baseball in his uniform. And when he was going with Jackie Medlen, they were such a great looking couple. The last time I seen Gary was at my father's funeral a number of years ago. He apologized to me two different times for treating me badly growing up. I really didn't know what he was talking about, but told him if he did I probably deserved it being the little brother and the aforementioned pest. I think that just shows what kind of heart he had. Loved you Earl and Lee, Gary, and Julie, and Jennifer their wiener dog! Didn't really know his older sisters, but my prayers go out to them and Julie. Will see you in heaven one day, Gary!
